IN ENGLISH
Today I found this group of sanderlings eating on the rocks that the low tide had uncovered.
There was a lot of food so they were feeding themselves for a long time, jumping among the stones and pecking all the time.
Within the group of silty birds, sanderlings belong to the order of charadriiformes, family of scolopacidae, species of calidris alba.
They are small birds, swift and agile, which it is usual to see at the beaches running at the edge of the water as if they were playing with the waves, but what they really do it is to take advantage of the fresh food waves leave on the sand.
Sanderlings like sea worms, crustaceans, molluscs and animals like that.
In this report we can see a group of them in their winter plumage, in summer the colour becomes darker brown.
They are migratory birds. They come to stay in the south of Europe in autumn and Winter, where the weather is warmer than in the northern tundra. They will go there in spring to nest and breed.
